Wellness Spotlight
June 2026June is National Men’s Health Month. The focus is often on men's physical health, such as fitness and annual checkups, but mental health is equally important. By raising awareness about men's emotional health, we hope to reduce the stigma surrounding it. Let's make sure the men in our lives feel comfortable speaking up and reaching out, so no one struggles alone.
June is also a globally recognized month of activism for the LGBTQ+ community. As we get involved in community-building activities this year, we encourage everyone to speak out against discrimination, use inclusive language, foster meaningful connections, and be an ally to one another.
This Month’s Well-Being Tips
Maintain a Sense of Calm in Stressful TimesThe pressure of juggling multiple demanding roles leaves you striving for perfection both at work and at home. When things feel overwhelming, managing your emotions rather than suppressing them can build mental resilience.
- Recognize your physical stress signals.
When you notice tension building, pause. Take three deep breaths before replying to urgent emails or joining tense meetings. This brief reset prevents reactive decisions you might regret. - Reframe stress as information, not a threat.
Ask yourself: What specifically am I worried about? This simple question transforms anxiety into a manageable issue you can address systematically. - Communicate transparently.
Acknowledge challenges with confidence. Your composed presence reduces uncertainty and reassures others, even if you don’t have all the answers. - Maintain boundaries.
You can’t pour from an empty cup. Regular exercise, adequate sleep and moments of genuine disconnection are essential leadership tools that protect your capacity to lead.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck or not quite yourself, you’re not alone.
BetterHelp, a Werfen EAP partner, makes it easy to connect with a licensed mental health specialist for short-term counseling focused on building coping skills.*
- You and your household members — individuals, couples and teens – are each eligible for up to 3 pre-paid virtual counseling sessions (per issue per year).
*EAP counselors cannot diagnose specific conditions and cannot prescribe medication.
